Columbia Performance Center
For the past five years, New Edgecliff Theatre has called the Columbia Performance Center home. We can’t wait for you to see this unique space! Read below to find information about the neighborhood, parking, the space, and the many dining options available!
Location
The facility is located in the heart of Columbia-Tusculum, Cincinnati’s oldest neighborhood, just seven minutes from downtown! Once a steamboat manufacturing center, the area now claims one of the city’s most dramatic renovation success stories. A unique blend of historic homes and modern office space, the area offers an eclectic environment perfect for our company. In fact, we’re not the only cultural organization on our street! Ballet Theatre Midwest is house just a few doors down at the Carnegie Center, and our neighbors at the Irish Heritage Center now call the historic McKinley School their home. Many of the quaint streets are lined with the historic “painted ladies” houses, sporting playful color combinations. In fact, the theatre itself housed in a historic Methodist church building, about 1/4 mile east of Delta Avenue. There isn’t a big sign out front… it doesn’t need one! You can easily spot it by its distinctive pink color.
Parking
While the Columbia Performance Center does not have a parking lot, parking is available on the street in the blocks surrounding the facility (please pay attention to posted signs). This means you can park on Eastern Avenue, Stites Avenue, or even Tennyson Avenue and still be within a few short steps of the front door!
Inside
The entrance to the theatre is on the Stites Avenue side of the building. Once inside, you’ll never forget the bohemian lobby, adorned with large scale puppets and eclectic decorations! The box office booth is located in the lobby. If picking up tickets at will-call, please remember to bring cash or a check, as we do not accept credit cards at the door!
Refreshments are typically available at every performance during intermission. Coffee, water, soda, and a variety of snacks are for sale, and all proceeds go to benefit our educational partner, Dramakinetics. The mission of Dramakinetics is to engage individuals of all abilities through movement, music and drama; empowering all individuals to reach their full potential. The work this organization does is truly
amazing, so we hope you eat up! If you are looking for a special treat, join us on opening night for a long-standing New Edgecliff tradition. After the performance, the cast, director and crew invite you to stay for a complimentary champagne toast celebrating another successful opening!
Seating in the theater is general admission, so we normally recommend arriving early, especially for popular or sold-out shows (the house opens a half hour before showtime). Half of the seats are cushy theatre seats, the rest are church pews, remnants of the space’s days as a sanctuary. There is quite literally not a bad seat in the house, so choose wherever you are most comfortable.
Dining
Looking for a spot to eat before or after the show? Columbia-Tusculum offers a wide variety of eateries to choose from. Our staff and performers often hang out at these establishments after a show. We encourage you to patronize any of these fine establishments and make your evening at the theater an event night:
